Sanderling Finance is an independent, fee-only, fiduciary, investment management, and financial planning firm.

What does this mean?

“Independent”

I am an independent practitioner and am not beholden to an employer. I can offer frank and candid advice that is in your best interest. Furthermore, I can be responsive to your specific needs and schedule.

But it does not mean that I’m “on my own.” You’ll have the support of a best-in-class custodian, Schwab. Also, I am a member of a 1,000+ member advisor group that provides top-notch compliance and procedural support.

“Fee-Only”

This means that I do not accept commissions of any kind, which are considered a conflict of interest. If I recommend an insurance product to you, I will do only because it is in your best interest.

“Fiduciary”

I have signed an oath to always put your interests before my own, to act with prudence and good judgement, to never mislead you, and to avoid conflicts of interest. If a conflict of interest is unavoidable, I will fully disclose and manage it in your favor.

“Investment Management”

This means that I can manage investments for you. Your assets are held at a reputable custodian (a bank), in an account in your name. I then manage your investments inside that account according to an Investment Policy Statement that we will draft together.

“Financial Planning”

Financial Planning is our most important offering. It’s an ongoing, iterative process through which an advisor helps a client manage all of their available financial resources with the aim of achieving the most desirable outcomes.

In college, I studied math and computer science, but I’ve always had a passion for personal finance. After working in the technology industry for a decade, I left to pursue a career where I can make a more direct impact in people’s lives. In this regard, finance has been a great fit.
